Tung Sau Pearl Farm
Nestled in a tranquil bay surrounded by towering limestone islands, Tung Sau Pearl Farm spans over 30 hectares and houses more than 3,000 saltwater pearl cages. The dedication and expertise of skilled farmers have transformed this farm into a hub for high-quality pearl production, making it an extraordinary place to witness the delicate and time-honored techniques involved in pearl cultivation.

What to Expect at Tung Sau Pearl Farm
Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed by knowledgeable guides who provide a step-by-step overview of the pearl farming process. The journey begins with an introduction to oyster breeding, where experts collect sperm and eggs from natural or hybridized oysters. These fertilized larvae are nurtured with microscopic food before being carefully released into protective cages in the bay.
The Art of Pearl Extraction
One of the most fascinating parts of the visit is witnessing the grafting process, a delicate technique where experienced farmers carefully open an oyster's shell and insert an artificial nucleus along with a tiny bead. This intricate procedure stimulates the oyster to produce a high-quality pearl over time.
After approximately two years, the oysters are finally ready to be opened, revealing stunning pearls hidden inside. As a guest, you’ll have the rare opportunity to try this firsthand, gently opening an oyster to extract its pearl, making for a truly immersive and memorable experience. In some cases, visitors can even keep the pearls they find as a special souvenir from the trip.

Following the hands-on experience, visitors can explore the Pearl Museum and Exhibition Area, where a vast collection of pearls is displayed in various sizes, colors, and quality grades.
